Behavior Intervention Plans and Consultations with Luna BHT

At Luna BHT, we provide consultation services related to special education laws and the development of behavior intervention plans for Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and 504 Plans.

What is a Public School IEP Support Plan?

An IEP is a written document developed and reviewed yearly through a joint effort for each public school child who is eligible for special education.

The Members of a Public School IEP Support Team Who Write IEPs Include:

  • Parent(s)/legal guardian(s)*
  • General Education Teacher(s)
  • Special Education Teacher(s)
  • Representative of the school system – this would be a higher representative such as a principal or dean.
  • Any individual with special expertise about the child – This could be any existing medical professionals that have treated your child.
  • Any representative from transition services
  • The child (when appropriate).

*Written parental consent is required before a school can implement an IEP*

What is a 504 Behavior Intervention Plan?

A 504 Plan states that school districts provide a free appropriate public education (FAPE) to students in their jurisdictions who have a physical or mental impairment that substantially limits one or more major life activities.

Ensuring that the proper IEP or 504 Plan is created and executed is of the utmost importance. At Luna BHT, with your approval, our clinical team members will collaborate with your child’s school team members to support the development of Behavior Support Plans to address behaviors that impede learning.
